We'll have a lesson soon on epee and sabre. This will be a good time to pick up one of those weapons to use in the future.

Time to Register your CFF Number for Competitive Fencers

For those of you competing this year, now's the time to register your CFF number.

You'll need this to compete in any event at a higher level than the ODFC.
Here's the link to register:

Registration expires every year on August 1st. So it's best to get it now to get the most use out of it.If you have any questions about the CFF license or competing this year, please let me know. 

Ottawa Fencing HP Camp August 25-29th 2014


On August 25-29, Ottawa Fencing will be hosting there 10th annual High Performance Camp.  The camp will be held at the RA Centre in Ottawa. 

Camp Hours: 10:00-5:00 (Optional evening sessions on Monday and Thursday 7:30-10:30)

Cost: $355.00 or $75 dollars/day.

Participants in the camp will include National and Provincial champions, and elite fencers in the Canadian High Performance program. 


Development level fencers are invited to participate in the HP camp.  Several activities and lessons will combine all levels.  If your son/daughter is interested in competitive fencing this is a great introduction, and opportunity to train with Canada's Best.  Camp activities include fencing lessons, bouting, fitness training, annual goal setting, mental performance activities, nutritional strategies, team building activities, and a mini tournament. 



Coaches for the competitive camp program are Paul ApSimon and Parviz Haghandish.



Paul has coached the Canadian Women’s Foil Team since 2010.  In those 4 years he coached the team to 2 Senior World Championship top 8 results a Junior top 4 and top 8, and a silver medal at the Junior World Championships. Paul has coached at the Sydney 2000 and London 2012 Olympics.

Parviz is currently an RA Fencing Club Coach, and a former coach

July Fencing Camp!

Dear parents and students,


We are happy to announce opening of the registration for the Fencing Camp, which will take place this summer from July 21 to August 1st. The camp will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and consist of tons of activities, exercises, games, and more.


In collaboration with Kanata Fencing Club (, this project was prepared to let our students continue developing and strengthening their skills during summer break and to stay in touch with our friends! Instructors from Ottawa Children Fencing School together with instructors from Kanata Fencing Club will lead the classes and organize activities throughout the day at the Westboro location.

Double Medalists at Ontario Provincials

Vadim and Bob travelled to Oshawa to compete in the Ontario Provincial Championships. Each of them returned with a Silver & Bronze medal! Congratulations guys!

2013/2014 ODFC Final Results

Kanata Fencers had a great season taking three of the overall ODFC trophies!

Brandon ODFC Foil Winner

Brandon won the overall Open Foil Championships by winning 4 of the 5 ODFC events! Also in this photo are Evan, 7th overall, Adam 4th overall and Dawson 2nd in a field of 19. 


Dawson was on fire this day! He's shown here with his Gold Medal from Epée but he also took home Silver in Open Sabre and was the overall Open Sabre Champion! Alex received a Bronze in Epée.

U15 Sabre Champion

Kuzey won the U-15 Sabre Championship, as well as Gold in the Open Sabre and U-15 Sabre. Liam finished the day with a Bronze in Open Sabre and a Silver in U-15 Sabre and 5th in the Open Sabre Championship. Nick finished 3rd in the overall U-15 championship and 6th in the Open Sabre Championship. Thomas tied Nick for 6th in the Open while Stephanie finished in 9th.


Alex performed very well in Epée winning Gold in U-15. His win placed him in 4th in the U-15 Championship.

Alex and Liam were both busy guys! Both fought in with two different weapons on the day!

Thomas finished 3rd overall in U-11 Foil and 8th overall in the U-13 Foil Championships and took home a Bronze Medal in U-11 Foil on the day.


Owen and Thomas both competed in U-15 Epée. Owen won Bronze and Thomas came 4th.

Antony traveled to Valleyfield to compete in the Veteran's Sabre event and overcame many problems, worked very hard and ended with this fantastic result: Gold Medal! Congratulations Tony!
